Eye-Clean SI2 Clarity Diamonds
Click to Watch
Clarity is perhaps the most misunderstood of the 4 C's because there is such a grey area surrounding it. Some inclusions/imperfections in a diamond can be seen with the naked eye or cause the stone to lose sparkle while other imperfections cannot be detected at all. While there are great deals to be had when engagement ring shopping by opting for lower clarity, there are also ones in the SI clarity range that you need to completely avoid. At Lauren B we ensure all of our SI clarity diamonds are eye clean and here are four options from inventory with close up views so you can see just how clean the diamond is inside.

Here is a great video we put together of four perfectly cut GIA certified SI2 clarity diamonds from our in house inventory; shown side by side then each individually from a naked eye view, under 10x magnification and then showings its GIA inscription. Watch the video and follow along with some excerpts from our most recent blog post:
SI2 clarity is typically the lowest clarity grade we will recommend to clients however, we find that not all SI2 clarity diamonds are created equally. A majority of SI2 clarity diamonds have obvious imperfections and inclusions that can be seen without trying to see them or will have a cloudy/dull appearance. Use the GIA report as a guide but keep in mind you always need a real life visual to determine how it looks in real life. In order of appearance:
Oval 1.80 ct H-SI2: The imperfections within the diamond are very tiny and spread out through the diamond. There are microscopic crystals sprinkled throughout the diamond making it extremely difficult for the human eye to pick up on the location when looking at it.
Pear 1.90 ct F-SI2: This SI2 is particularly nice being that the imperfections are very few twinning wisps and feathers. You would easily find a similar plot on a VS2 clarity diamond. The imperfections are clear/white and therefore blend in perfectly with the brilliant faceting of the diamond.
Radiant 2.00 ct G-SI2: Here is only 1 determining inclusion and that is a single white feather within the diamond. Other than that 1 tiny line, the rest of the diamond is completely clean. The feather is a clear white color so it blends it very nicely with the diamond faceting as well.
Round 2.40 ct F-SI2: On this SI2 you will notice under magnification that the imperfections are what we call a salt and pepper effect- they are scattered around and very tiny such as small crystals. Majority of them are also more towards the edges"
